atoms, atoms, atoms - Music video [2023]
Music : Composition, orchestration, production, performance
Video : Director, screenplay, post-production
As the first visual release ahead of my album ACTE III [2024], it was designed to introduce the album’s aesthetic direction—one that brings life through a vibrant kaleidoscope of colors and contrasts inspired by human experience.
I collaborated with two animation artists to craft a world where transformation and evolution take center stage. The storyline explores an individual’s journey through a world full of opportunities, illustrating the infinite ways one can grow and reshape themselves through the human experience. Each frame is meticulously constructed to reflect this metamorphosis, intertwining movement, music, and visual storytelling into an immersive artistic statement that presents the upcoming release of my album.
ACTE III - album [2024]
Music : Composition, production, co-orchestration, performance (piano, keyboards, synthesizers)
ACTE III is an album that took shape over a two-year creative journey, designed to capture the essence of personal evolution within a world of infinite possibilities. Inspired by the realm of dreams and the undefined nature of transformation, the music weaves together classical, electronic, and cinematic elements to evoke a sense of discovery and introspection.
At the core of this artistic endeavor lies a tapestry of instrumentation, featuring an orchestral soundscape comprising a 10 piece string ensemble, a woodwind quartet, dynamic drums and percussions, brass, and an abundance of synthesizers and intricate sound design. Collaborations with talented singers add an extra dimension of depth and emotional resonance to the music. As a departure from the minimalist aesthetic, the album embraces a maximalist approach; a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors and contrasts inspired by movement and the human experience.
ACTE III - live tour [2024-25]
Music director, performer, stage design, co-lights and visuals designer
The ACTE III live tour was conceived as an immersive extension of the album, inviting the audience into its dreamlike world. To achieve this, I designed a stage experience centered around low lighting, heavy atmospheric fog, and a carefully orchestrated interplay between sound and visuals.
Collaborating with the same visual artists from the music video (atoms, atoms, atoms), we repurposed key elements from that work—its distinct color palette and looping sequences—to reinforce the album’s themes. Using Resolume, we integrated these visuals into the live performance, creating a seamless fusion of music and imagery.
For lighting design, I focused on side and backlighting, keeping the stage dimly lit to maintain an ethereal ambiance, punctuated by strobes at moments of heightened intensity. In keeping with the triptych concept of ACTE III, the core performances featured only three musicians (though some special shows included additional performers), positioned in a straight line to emphasize the triadic structure.
The projections and lighting were synchronized with a meticulously curated setlist, balancing intimate moments with grand, sweeping climaxes, ensuring an evolving and immersive experience for the audience.
Les Évadés de la Moraline
Original soundtrack for the ZemmourBallet production [2024]
Évadés is a choreographic work exploring themes of addiction and human freedom, delving into the philosophical tensions between necessity and liberation, determinism and creativity. The production examines the solitude of the individual in the face of desires and dependencies, touching on addictions to substances, technology, and beyond.
For the score, I collaborated with the Orchestre Symphonique de Sherbrooke, working with a chamber orchestra instrumentation that balanced intimacy and grandeur. The ensemble included a string quintet (violins, viola, cello, and bass), two French horns, flute, English horn, and clarinet. Beyond the orchestral recording, I integrated post-production techniques, using fragments of the performance to create immersive textures and sonic layers that enhance the emotional depth of the piece.
Alabtross - album [2021]
Albatross is a collection of unique pieces composed and refined over six years, mirroring the long and expansive journey of its namesake seabird. This album reflects on the time, dedication, and distance required to achieve something great—both in music and in life.
The album took shape through years of musical exploration and travel, including two creative residencies at the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity. Pre-production began in Iceland where the vast Nordic landscapes deeply influenced the soundscapes. Further inspiration was drawn from time spent in the Faroe Islands, the archipelago in the North Atlantic, whose raw, untamed beauty resonated within the compositions.
As my first full-length album—following a series of EPs—Albatross blends orchestral elements with electronic textures. The instrumentation features a rich interplay between strings (including a tripled string quartet and six-part arrangements), French horn, piano, and electronic elements, creating a cinematic and immersive listening experience.
Albatross - Live à la Maison Symphonique de Montréal [2021]
Released during the COVID-19 pandemic, Albatross was presented through a filmed live performance at a stunning concert hall in Montreal. Collaborating with visual artist Jérôme Delapierre, we designed a stage-mapping experience where each of the seven pieces had its own distinct visual identity. Given the limited lighting setup, the projected visuals became the primary source of illumination, shaping the atmosphere of the performance.
For example, in Bloom, evolving textures of vines and particles gradually took over the walls of the hall, mirroring the piece’s unfolding crescendo. This project also marked my first opportunity to adapt the album’s compositions for live performance.
Alabtross - live tour [2021-2023]
Following the launch of Albatross, we embarked on a tour where I aimed to visually capture the album’s essence. While we didn’t use projections, the stage and lighting design played a crucial role in elevating the experience.
The centerpiece of the show was a striking 10-foot-diameter circle with integrated LED strips, controlled via Resolume to create tailored effects for each piece. This symbolic element represented the flight of the albatross coming full circle. The string quartet was positioned center stage on risers, with predominantly backlighting to cast the musicians as shadowed silhouettes, reinforcing the atmospheric and immersive quality of the performance.
Impressionnism take [2025]
My proposed project explores how I can extract small musical gestures from Impressionist works and reinterpret them through modern processing techniques.
In Daphnis Arpeggios, I sampled a flute and clarinet performance of a modified version of the Lever du Jour opening from Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé. I looped the track and layered a pitched-down, slowed-down version, further processing it with pitch-shifting delays and reverb. The result is a wistful, minimalist atmosphere, which I then expanded with a new synth part, pushing the material into a new direction.
Similarly, in Jeux d’eau, inspired by Ravel’s piece of the same name, I looped my own piano performance and applied a similar approach to processing.
Both examples highlight how I can take brief musical gestures—arpeggios, rhythmic motifs—and develop them into something fresh, offering a new perspective on familiar material.
