Ableton tips and tricks for creative production (December entry)

Since my creative process involves a hybrid between working with real musicians and using computer tools, a lot of my creative ideas came from how-to tutorials to understand how to use the full potentiel of powerful audio production software like Ableton Live. Since I’ve updated to the latest version, I have been continuously learning tips and tricks online.

Here is a hidden gem from Reaktor. This is a sequencer that is spiral-based. It creates beautiful ways of sequencing anything. I find it very useful to generate different polyrhythms for lush background rhythmical stuff.

This youtuber really dive into the new useful tools that Ableton Live can offer. In this videos, he explain the different devices one can use to shape a moreorganic sound design. “They use natural phenomena from physics and biology to create and effect sounds and MIDI. Each device is incredibly powerful, but also quite complex. Learn how to use each of the devices to take your sound design and music-making to the next level.”

This is an old one as it dates in 2013. I find it very inspiring to create interesting vocal processing. I eventually want to explore further the vocal aspect of music by collaborating with vocalists !
